Daniel Spicer is a writer, broadcaster, improviser and poet based in Brighton, UK. He writes about music for The Wire, Jazzwise, Songlines, WeJazz, New Internationalist and The Quietus. He is the author of The Turkish Psychedelic Music Explosion: Anadolu Psych (1965–1980) and Peter Brötzmann: Free-Jazz, Revolution And The Politics Of Improvisation.

Since October 2006, he has presented The Mystery Lesson, playing new releases and fresh reissues in deep jazz, free jazz and avant-garde improvised music. The show has appeared on a number of FM stations and online platforms over the years. It can currently be heard at www.onejazz.net.

Between September 2020 and December 2022, he presented The Golden Road, playing new releases, reissues and archival sounds from Africa, the Middle East, Asia, South America and beyond. It is not currently being broadcast.
